Victory Day (Bengali: বিজয় দিবস) is one of the national days of Bangladesh celebrated on December 16. On December 16, 1971, the CO of Pakistan Armed Forces stationed in East Pakistan Lieutenant General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, signed the Instrument of Surrender. It was a written treaty that ended the Indo-Pakistani War in 1971 in the Eastern Theater. It took place at the Ramna Race Course in Dhaka. Lieutenant General Niazi and Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Aurora, Joint Commander of Indian and Bangladesh Forces, signed the agreement amidst the jubilant crowds at the racecourse.
