It is a celebration of reunification and a special day celebrating the unique bond between brothers and sisters. This year, Siblings Day in the United States will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10 April 2024.

 History of Siblings Day

Siblings Day was established by Claudia Evart in 1995 in memory of her siblings Alan and Lisette who died in separate accidents. Evart lost both of them as a teenager, and she wanted to create a day to recognize and appreciate such a unique bond. Claudia wished to honor the relationship she shared with her siblings and inspire others to do so. She selected April 10 as National Siblings Day because it was her late sister’s birthday.

As the day was primarily in the US. celebrated in the state where it was celebrated every year the day gained popularity in the world for the last 25 years. The Siblings Day Foundation, a non-profit organization in the United States, is working towards official recognition of the day. On February 25, 2023, the foundation wrote a letter to President Joe Biden asking for a Presidential Proclamation to set that date as a goal.
