Kwanzaa is celebrated annually in the African American culture from December 26 to January 1. It has a communal feast called "karamu" that occurs on the sixth day. It was first introduced by activist Maulana Karenga, it draws on harvest festival traditions from various parts of West and Southeast Africa. It was initially celebrated in 1966.
